Q. How do I set up an appointment? To book an appointment, please fill out a booking form. If you’ve filled one out and haven’t heard back yet, sometimes it can take me a second to respond. If you feel you’ve been overlooked, you can submit again or reach out via email at Kayla@kayybunny.com In order to finalize your appointment date, I do require a $50 non-refundable deposit. That goes towards the price of your tattoo on the day of.
Q. Where are you located? Chris and I have opened up a private studio in Lexington, KY. I work by appointment only. Please make sure to have an appointment before stopping by the shop as you may be interrupting someone else’s booked time. Thanks!
Q. How much will it cost? Our shop minimum is $100. Tattoos are priced individually based on size, body placement and level of complexity. I won’t know the exact price until I have your tattoo drawn and sized. It’s difficult to give an accurate price estimate without visual reference and exact measurements. Typically though palm-size tattoos fall around $300/$350, and hand-size tattoos fall around $450/$500.
Q. What forms of payment do you take? I accept cash, Venmo and most major cards through the Square App. We do have to charge a 6% sales tax now on all tattoos. That’s required by the state of Kentucky.
Q. How old do I have to be to get tattooed? I do not tattoo minors. You must be 18 or older to get tattooed. Don’t forget to bring your government issued ID to your appointment.
Q. Can I see my drawing before my appointment? Nope. I don’t send out pictures of my designs beforehand! I will have it ready for you on the day of our appointment! Small changes can be made day off.
Q. Can I change my design or placement after the appointment is scheduled? I reserve a certain amount of time for you based on the information you provide, so changing the design/size/placement may result in me not having enough time booked for you. I usually book multiple appointments per day, so if you’re appointment takes longer than expected that can impede on other appointments. Please check in with me if you have a major change of heart. Minor changes can be made the day of, but if you change your mind on the idea/placement it’s best to let me know as soon as possible!
Q. What should I bring to my appointment? You’re welcome to bring a friend, but please only one guest as our space is smaller and we have limited seating available. Feel free to bring water or something to drink and some small snacks if needed. If you’re getting a leg tattoo, make sure to bring some shorts. If you’re getting a sternum tattoo, I recommend bringing a bikini top or bralette and an oversized flannel. If you’re getting a tattoo on your back, I recommend a zip up hoodie or oversized flannel.
Q. How do I take care of my new tattoo?
Immediate Care:
Leave bandage in place for 3 hours.
Once your bandage is ready to come off, with clean hands, gently wash your tattoo with a mild, antibacterial soap & warm water. Use nothing more than the pressure from the palm of your hand. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.
Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor and keep exposed to air.
Every 6-8 hours:
Rewash & apply a new layer of Aquaphor.
Make sure to wash, dry and apply Aquaphor immediately before bed and upon waking in the morning.
Your new tattoo and ointment may stain any material/clothing or sheets/bedding that it comes in contact with. Continue to use Aquaphor for 3 days and then switch to a mild unscented lotion, such as baby lotion.
Your tattoo will likely become dry, flaky, itchy and may even scab. This is all completely normal. Keeping the tattoo moisturized will help with the itching.
Please, DO NOT pick or scratch at your tattoo.
DO NOT submerge your new tattoo in pools, bathtubs, saunas, hot tubs, lakes, etc.
DO NOT expose your tattoo to sun. No tanning beds or sunbathing.
DO continue to use SPF 45 or higher on your tattoo indefinitely. It helps to keep your tattoos bright and vivid.
